Privacy

Woleta is a public-facing memory companion, and we treat your trips with care. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it is kept, and the rights you have. It is written to be honest about the line between your device and the cloud.

1. Who we are

The data controller is APITHINGS SAS, a French simplified joint-stock company (SAS). You can reach us at hello@woleta.com.

2. On-device first

Woleta is built local-first. Capture, on-device drafting, your private journal, and the basic Trip Brain run on your phone. There is no account to start, and your trips are stored on your device.

When you choose to sync, your data is encrypted and hosted in the EU. Sync exists so your trips can be restored to a new device. We do not promise an indestructible backup, keep your device backup on as well.

Your audio is never saved or uploaded. Only the transcribed words survive a capture, and the transcription runs on your device by default.

3. Premium cloud features

Some premium features use the cloud. When you ask for a richer Trip Brain answer or a cloud-composed chapter, Woleta sends a chosen excerpt to our AI provider in Europe (Azure OpenAI, EU region). The payload is kept minimal, and we show you a consent banner before anything leaves your phone.

The line between on-device and cloud is also the line that matters for your privacy. We name it honestly rather than hide it.

4. Living pages and image rights

A living page is private by default and shared by link. Making a page fully public is an explicit choice. A published page is a hosting service under the EU Digital Services Act, so it is moderable: anyone can report a page and we follow a notice-and-action process, which may include taking the page down.

You are responsible for the image rights of the people shown in your photos. Woleta never tags faces automatically, and we do not run biometric identification.

5. Analytics

We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, for anonymized product events that help us understand which features are useful. These events never contain the content of your memories, your photos, or your transcripts. You can opt out of analytics in the app settings.

6. Subscriptions

Premium is billed through the App Store. Payment processing and renewal are handled by Apple under its own terms. We neither receive nor store your payment details.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, and to object or restrict processing.

Because your trips live on your device, you keep direct control: you can view, edit, and delete them in the app, and export and erasure are built in from day one. To exercise your rights regarding the data we process (analytics and any synced or cloud-processed content), contact hello@woleta.com.

If you believe your rights are not respected, you can file a complaint with your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL, www.cnil.fr).

8. Minors

Woleta is intended for a general audience and is not designed for use by children under 16.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy. In case of a substantial change, we will notify you in the app. For any question, write to hello@woleta.com or see our legal notice.
